My love for sneakers came from the Air Max 95 “Neon”, the Vans Sk8-Hi and the Puma Blaze of Glory “Bloodbath”. The sneaker culture strongly influenced my lifestyle by giving me a passion and hobby . Every week on Shelf Life, I’ll bring you the top sneaker releases based on my love and knowledge of the sneaker industry, as well as other pairs that might have sparked my interest.

The amount of releases this week is nothing short of insane. Nike is coming in strong with some gems for the old school shoe-heads. The Air More Uptempo OG and various Air Jordan are retroing while the Swoosh keeps pushing out modern looks like the Nike F.C. Free Flyknit Mercurial CR. New Balance surprises us with some 580s for their 20th anniversary which will go perfect with your summer night outfits. adidas pushes back the highly anticipated Highsnobiety UltraBoost to this Saturday (4.9.2016) and its hype just continues to skyrocket.
Nike Air More Uptempo OG “Black/White”
This shoe first intrigued me when I just started collecting kicks. At first glance, they may shock a few, but the longer you stare at these, the more they seduce you with its uniqueness. The word “Air” written on the entire lateral side of the shoe is not exactly low-key, but it’s perfectly blended in with the smooth black nubuck upper. The black rope heel tab, murdered out mid sole and subtle white accents complete the look of this retro basketball shoe made unforgettable by Scottie Pippen. Being locked in the vault for a few years now, Nike made the smart move by retro-ing this pair to give some nostalgic memories to older sneakerheads reminiscing about the great Bulls era.
The Nike Air More Uptempo OG is available now at various Nike retailers across Canada such as The Closet Inc. for a steep price of $215. Expect these to sell out rather quickly.
