The venue is booked, the stage is set, the moment you walk in through those doors all lights will be shone your way and all eyes will be on you, or rather, your feet.
It is a Sneaker Show and for a few hours, you will be in your element, surrounded by those who understand you the most, those who believe in what you believe. You might get the feeling that everyone is sizing you up, and yea, maybe… Just a little, because that’s what we would do in any circumstance when meeting another sneakerhead. One part compared, one part inspired, the looks you’ll get are all in good fun.
So what is your plan? The possibilities seem endless. Consider these possible courses of action…
1. Go full baller and wear the hottest pair you own! Go for the WOW factor, the jugular! Destroy everyone and count the bodies after!
2. Go late to the event and grab whatever was nearest to the door on your way out. Play it off as close to no f*cks were kinda given, because you care, but not really. Chances are most of the shoes you own are remarkable in their own way anyways.
3. Go San Diego and stay classy, or rather, classic. Bring out the Old School staples that never go out of style or out of contention for best shoe. You can’t go wrong with a Bred 1 or a clean shell-toe. The slow motion, approving nods will follow as you glide on by.
4. Go for individuality. The chances of seeing more than one guy wearing the latest Jordan release is higher than probable. Get away from the pack and go for the obscure banger that will turn heads and turn brand allegiances.
It’s one day till The Ultimate Sneaker Show presented by Sole Exchange Canada rolls into town. To be honest, I’ve been trying to decide what to wear for the past two weeks. Most of the texts I’ve been getting about the show eventually include a kicker about what are you wearing to the show. A choice of three to four possibilities with a strong front runner is usually the response. I’ll probably be making my choice at the last minute, when the excitement for the show is at an all-time high. I’ll let the moment guide me and next thing I’ll know, I’ll be walking out on my way to the event with confidence on my feet and swagger in my step.
Hope to see you all at Sole Exchange Canada in Montreal, or the next time they come through your city. We’ll connect and talk sneakers, just don’t mind the backup pair I have in my bag… You never know! Hah!
