Nike Crown League

Three years ago, Nike Basketball blessed the city of Toronto with the introduction of their summer league called Crown League. The rise of the basketball culture in Canada is undisputed, evident by the likes of NBA players such as Andrew Wiggins, Tristan Thompson, and Cory Joseph. Just as the Toronto Raptors and Vancouver Grizzlies played a pivotal role in the development of the sport within the country, Crown League looks to take it one step further and continue the process.

The league tipped off its third season on June 30th with six teams competing every Friday to see who takes the crown at the season finals on July 24th. For the second consecutive year, the games will be played at Ryerson University’s Kerr Hall and the games for each week will tip-off at 6:30PM, so be sure to get there early as lines are an inevitability. One of the reasons that there will definitely be a line is the fact that the price of admission for Crown League is FREE! All you have to do is register your spot on Nike.com/CrownLeague with your Nike+ account.

We received the opportunity to attend the first week of Crown League with an invite from House of Hoops through the good folks over at Foot Locker, and it was truly amazing to see the talent on display in the heart of Toronto. We were given a separate line access, complimentary food & beverage, a swag bag, and to top it off, we got to sit in House of Hoops’ private seating section. This type of VIP experience at Crown League can be yours if you follow the instructions on this Foot Locker Instagram post below!

If you are a fan of basketball and you would like to watch some high level competition during the NBA offseason, be sure to reserve your spot each and every week! Crown League is sanctioned by the NBA & NCAA, so you will definitely see some amazing talent on the court every game. During the first week of competition, some of the notable players on the court were Brady Heslip (Raptors 905), Duane Notice (University of South Carolina), and Myck Kabongo (BCM U Pitesti).
