When the first Converse and JW Anderson collaboration first appeared on our timelines, I immediately asked to find out whether I was allowed to partake in such bold pieces. A relative departure from the iconic standards we are accustomed to with Converse, the JW Anderson interpretation blurs the lines between high fashion and street style.
Jonathan Anderson’s latest pursuit, called Simply_Complex, dresses some of Converse’s core silhouettes, including the Thunderbolt and Chuck 70, in a spectrum of suedes and denim to interpret the way a shoe evolves through time and fashion as it wears on the streets.
“We approached it as a sneaker first but introduced detailed elements and the suede execution that make it a sort of curious version of Chuck, ultimately constructing the silhouette as a statement shoe,” Anderson says of his latest interpretation of the Chuck 70. “For me, they are perfect with chinos, jeans and a white T-shirt.”
