Last year, adidas Originals released a modern silhouette from their iconic 1991 EQT line with the launch of the adidas EQT Support ADV 91/16. The name of the model speaks for itself, as it pays homage to the EQT line while also stating the changes made to the modern silhouette with its advanced support. This model is the perfect blend of performance and style in the form of a sleek and modern design.

The EQT Support ADV features a two-tone sock-like knit upper with a nubuck toe overlay and quarter panel, with the Core Black/Turbo Red colourway differing by having a reflective quarter panel. The EQT branding can be seen on the bottom lace lock, as well as the minimalistic branding featured on the tongue, with all of the new 91/16 models receiving the Turbo Red touch on the writing of the tongue branding. The mixture of the different types of materials and textures are a great touch on this model, as it adds to the overall great aesthetics of the shoes.

The original EQT line focused on the performance aspect of the shoes as well, not just style, and the modern silhouette did not forget about its roots. The EVA sole has traditionally been used on their running models, with its elastic-like qualities providing cushioning, but with the EQT Support ADV model, the EVA midsole has been moulded by compression to not only provide comfort to the shoes, but also maintain its great aesthetics. There is also a moulded TPU support piece on the heel, which provides optimal comfort and support to go alongside the updated midsole. To top off all of the different types of technologies incorporated throughout the shoes, there are also Ortholite performance insoles to provide additional comfort.

Without the distinct branding of the adidas trefoil logo, the brand decided to go with a very subtle use of their trademark three-stripes by incorporating it on both the lateral and medial sides of the shoes. The three-stripes starts at the eyelets and transition down the shoes, with the midsole incorporating a sculpted three-stripes on both sides which allows the stripes to be displayed all the way down to the sole.
